JANUARY 2015 INSPIRATION OF THE MONTH – Kristina Guerrero
Six weeks after my son Mateo was born, I walked into Sandy’s class and said, “I’m here to be your future Inspiration of the Month!”
Declare! Believe! Receive!
What a way to kick off the New Year! (High 5!)
2014 came with a lot of transitions for me. I’m a new mom to the cutest little thing I’ve ever known. Like all new mommies, I felt overjoyed and over the moon, but also overwhelmed and over-exhausted. As if being a first time working mom wasn’t hard enough, halfway through the year, I left my job of 6 years. I quickly learned that stay-at-home mommy-hood was hard – gratifying and wonderful – but nevertheless, freakin’ hard.
Going a little nutty in my new world, I needed to refocus. I wanted to be sharp, on my game, and feel confident in this new post-baby body that was now mine. And I’m not gonna lie. I wanted my arms to look good in a tank top, and I didn’t want to feel the need to burn all my skinny jeans.
I made a commitment to myself to make health and fitness a priority. I knew full well that with this foundation, so many other things in my life would fall into place.
I accepted the SCF Fall into Fitness Challenge and…I won! Yay me! I set a goal, I worked hard, and I achieved it. That feels pretty darn good! And I conquered a fear: my fear of ZUMBA!
I thank my sister, Sandy. She inspires me and challenges me to be better. And I thank the SC Fitness community. You chicks are rad! You’re strong and kind and supportive. And thanks to my husband, Gibby and my son, Mateo for your support with my fitness endeavors!
Cheers to an incredible 2015 for all of us!
My Dear Kristina,
Your bouncy, fun, and positive energy in class is inspiring. In Body Sculpt, your form and strength have come so far, and your confidence has soared in Zumba. I know being a new mom can make it more challenging to take care of yourself, but it’s been awesome to watch your commitment to be fit. You look strong, healthy, and beautiful. Your light shines bright, sweet sister, inside and out. I am so very proud of you.
